HELLO 2020 - 2021 Kindergarten Family!
I am excited to meet my new kindergarten family for this year. Starting the year in virtual learning and then transitioning to the real classroom will be interesting to say the least. But I am up for the challenge! Kindergarten is my favorite grade to teach because I love being one of the first positive influences on your child's school career. I want students to begin school knowing how important a good education is and that learning is EXCITING! I believe learning is fun and I try to make my classroom, virtually or in-person, a loving, warm, and unforgettable experience! It has been said if you love what you do you will never work a day in your life! That is why I make teaching not a job, but my life. So believe me when I say I truly consider the relationship we create between teacher, parents, and student a unique family.
Below is Virtually everything you need to know about Mrs. Vawter
I am entering my sixth year teaching kindergarten. I have loved every moment and I can't see myself doing anything else!
I recently got married on August 8, 2020 to my best friend! I call Middletown, Delaware "home" where I live with my husband, Jesse, and our zoo of friends! We have two dogs: Benjammin' (Lhasa-poo), Mr. David Bowie (Chow/Bohemian Sheperd), Capt. Jack (Tabby Cat) and a variety of garden and plant friends we attempt to keep alive!
Before getting engaged, moving to Middletown, and teaching at Colonial, I taught kindergarten in Lewes near the beach with Cape Henlopen School District! I have a love for the beach because of my heritage! My family originates from Jamaica, where I was born. I go back to Jamaica every year to visit family, since half of my family still lives there! Fun fact! I have lived in all three of Delaware's counties and I have lived in America for over 20 years now!

LearnT.
I attended Hood College in Frederick, Maryland where I received a Bachelor of Arts in Elementary & Special Education. I was very involved in many school programs such as House Council, Inter Varsity, Big Brothers/Big Sisters, Best Buddies, STARs, BSU, SEA; I was also involved in soccer and cheerleading. Since I am very energetic I love to have my classroom active and moving also!
For my Masters in Curriculum and Instruction, I attended Concordia University in Portland, Oregon. I did not get to walk for graduation in April of 2020, due to COVID-19. However, there was coroNO way that would stop me from celebrating my graduation! B.A in Elem & Spec. Ed.

My favorite activities are being outside, relaxing on the beach, coaching cheer, and coaching Girls on the Run. I love playing with my pets, holistic living, bike rides, traveling, and giving a DIY project my best attempt. I also play in a competitive women's kickball league.
I really enjoy the colors burgundy, purple, pink, teal or grey. Life is a rainbow-- why settle on one color? My favorite stay at home activities are puzzles, playing SIMs 4, jogging, catching up with family and friends. My favorite animals are turtles and elephants. Before Covid-19, my husband, dogs and I, spent many of our weekends at our beach condo in Sussex County. Since we love exploring, I can give you plenty of suggestions for fun in southern Delaware. In return I would love suggestions on fun places to explore, best food spots, or day trips to take on the weekends in New Castle County, Philly, Wilmington, really anywhere! |
